The Genesis Invitational 2025 Golf Betting Preview, Odds, Picks And Props

Following
Updated Feb 16, 2025, 05:27am EST

A new location for the 2025 Genesis Invitational is a familiar golf course on the PGA Tour. This year’s tournament is moved from Riviera CC down the California coast to Torrey Pines, site of the Farmers Insurance Open just three weeks ago. But The Genesis Invitational is a Signature Event on Tour, which means more top-ranked pros will be firing for fairways and greens with a top prize of $4 million from the $20 million purse.

Tournament host Tiger Woods withdrew from the event Monday afternoon, but should be at the event later in the week to greet the elite 72-player field for the 99th edition of event. The 49-year-old Woods was a seven time winner of the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines, and also won the 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey.

Torrey Pines South Course Hole-By-Hole

  • Feb. 13-16, 2025 - San Diego
  • Par 72 and 7,765 yards

Torrey Pines is a 36-hole municipal golf facility in La Jolla, a community of San Diego, California. The South Course was redesigned and renovated a second time in 2019 by Rees Jones. The course is host to the annual Farmers Insurance Open, and was also site of the 2021 U.S. Open, won by LIV golfer Jon Rahm (-6). Finishing in third place at that major was Harris English, who won the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open last month as a big longshot with a score of 280, or 8-under par.

Three of the last four winners of the Farmers Insurance Open on the long Torrey Pines South Course finished top-5 in Strokes Gained Approach and top-10 in Putting. In addition to those stats, driving distance, SG: Off the Tee and stronger long iron play from 175 to 200+ yards will shape the leaderboard.

This week the course will play to the same distance as the Farmers event. The grass cuts will be the same on the below Tour averaged-size Poa annua greens, and ryegrass fairways with 4-inch rough.

However, the course won’t play as firm and fast the first two days of the tournament. An 80-90% chance of rain Wednesday into play on Thursday will add another element to play. Near 60 degree temperatures and gusting winds 10-20 mph continue into Round 2 Friday, where a 60% chance of rain is possible.

Top Players To Watch

Other top finishers in last months Farmers Insurance Open playing in this week’s Genesis Invitational include: Sungjae Im (T4), Taylor Pendrith (T7), Keegan Bradley (T15) and Belgian Thomas Detry (T15), who gets into the big money, exclusive Genesis field after winning last week’s Phoenix Open at +12000, or 120/1 odds for his firs PGA Tour win.

This is the final tournament of the seven-week West Coast swing. The star-studded 72-player field for the 2025 Genesis includes 46 of the top 50 golfers in the Official World Golf Rankings. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler tops the field along with No. 3 Rory McIlroy, who just won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this month, No. 4 Collin Morikawa and last year’s Genesis champion and world No. 5 Hideki Matsuyama, who won The Sentry Signature Event to kick off the New Year over runner-up Morikawa.
